Belmont Inn -> Things to do
Camden is mid-way on the midcoast of Maine and one of the most beautiful shorelines imaginable. The Midcoast of Maine offers endless harbors and inlets for boaters -- in fact, 4000 miles of coastline -- and long views past islands scattered across the horizon, with open ocean beyond. Breathtaking.

On land, you'll find so much to do that you'll be planning to come back long before it's time to go.

Because the Belmont, a Midcoast Maine bed and breakfast is located in the village, when you are lodging here you can leave your car at the inn all day and walk the two short blocks to Camden's center, with fascinating shops and restaurants, theatres, and of course -- the harbor. You can sign on for a day-sail aboard a schooner or lobster boat, and test your sea-legs on the walk home.

Another day, perhaps you'd like a hike or a picnic on Mt. Battie, the mountain that meets the sea just behind the village. You might rent a kayak or a canoe. Or take dozens of excursions to other coastal villages, to nearby Rockland, with its two lighthouses and the Farnsworth Museum, to Acadia National Park, to island ferries, to shopping, both outlet and antiques, all easy distances by car from your home at the Belmont Inn. If you like, Bruce and Sherry will be pleased to help you plan.

For example, Camden is 1.5 hours south of Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park, a great day trip. Were 45 minutes north of Boothbay Harbor, another popular coastal village, and 1.5 hours north of Freeport and shopping mecca, L.L. Bean. And in between, in every direction including east (islands!), there are charming towns not to be missed. (You must see Rockland, Damariscotta, Blue Hill, Monhegan, Islesboro.)
